SSPiN Database Prototype

sspin.jpgSSPiN is a prototype database that uses a scalable mutating database that I designed as a back end system for a content management system combining versioning, tagging, social networking, and rating features. The interface is very simple because nearly all of the development time was spent investigating database models that could handle a user created structure to represent anything. The database allows users to create all of their own categories and the data model adapts to accomodate however users would like to use the sytem. There is a built in security and user management area where administrators and moderators have different permissions to modify content and change structure categories that users can use.

Amerifuel Website

AmeriFuel Fleet FuelingThe Amerifuel website project was undertaken to transform an existing design in tables into one using divs and CSS. Using divs and CSS is immensely easier to maintain and update than using tables and is generally more cross browser compliant. By using CSS fonts, styles, and layouts for every page can be changed by editing just one document. Using tables each page must be individually updated and one small error can ruin the layout and be incredibly difficult to find and fix. For this project I used Blueprint CSS, a CSS framework mean to cut down development time. It organizes everything into a grid and allows you to easily change div sizes by using different class names. Because this was an existing design it tables it was difficult getting it to work with Blueprint but with future projects it will be much quick to create designs from scratch using Blueprint.
